Meet Dave
So is Chinese your favourite take away?
Yeah I reckon it is, but Trish has been getting that fancy Thai stuff lately instead. I don’t mind a bit of beef pad thai but like I said you can’t go past a good Chow Mein.
You fancy yourself as a fisherman?
Well…. I would say I am not too bad. I used to go fishing a lot off the wharves with my Dad when I was young. I reckon it is a great way to relax. Like I said my dream would be to buy a fishing boat and retire up the North Coast and go fishing most days. Got to keep working for a while yet though.
What’s Your Favourite Radio Station?
Well when am on a job we always have Triple M going, they play loads of Split Enz, Midnight Oil and other good Aussie music. But when the kids are in the Crewman we usually listen to some other fancy station with all that “hop hip” music.
What about fishing???
My first love is AFL. I have been following the Swans since they came to Sydney. I actually wasn’t too bad a player in my younger days, but not what you would call dedicated except to the post match drinks at the local. I also like to watch Bathurst each year. My mates and I generally have a barbie and watch the race for the afternoon. I am a big Holden supporter. I also don’t mind to have the Cricket on over Summer, I don’t think I could sit there all day watching a test but some of the stuff Ritchie Benaud & Tony Greig come out with is pretty hilarious, I actually thought it was only Trish who could talk non stop all day. I like to have it on in the background when I am working. This year should be a cracker of a series, but those Pommy’s are kidding themselves if they think the Ashes will be leaving here again.
What’s Your Favourite Magazine?
I don’t mind reading Street Machine and of course Boating Australia, and I have to admit I also “read” Ralph sometimes, but only because my apprentice buys it. I also pick up the Trading Post every Thursday; there are so many bargains to be found.
So Dave, we have to ask, why do you use Selleys products?
The quality of my work is what gets me new business, and I can tell you Selleys products do what they say, they work, and give you the best results each time. I am not a builder who will buy a gap filler or silicone for $2, because while it might save me a buck or two in the beginning, I can tell you it is much more costly for me to go back and do the job again for nothing when the owner complains. To me, time is money and that is why I only use the products I know will work.
Selleys also has a massive range and I can pick them up anywhere. I have had the odd occasions when I didn’t know exactly how to use the product, but I just rang the guys at Selleys and I tell you, they really know their stuff.
So what’s on the agenda for Dave this Summer?
As I said we have Trish’s folks coming down for Christmas, which will mean we will have a full house for a while. After Christmas I reckon, I might tackle building a back deck, so I can drink a can of Toohey’s New and listen to the buzz of Summer.
