How to use this product
- Avoid contact with skin (wear gloves).
- Ensure surfaces are sound (painted surfaces should not be flaky or peeling). Ensure the surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry and free from dust, grease, oil and loose powdery materials. If porous surfaces are greasy or dirty, we would recommend cleaning the surface with SELLEYS LIQUID SUGAR SOAP, and allow to dry. If the surface is non-porous eg glass or metal, firstly clean the surface with Mineral Turpetine and then again with Methylated Spirits, and allow to dry. If there is old difficult to remove residue such as old paint, we recommend using paint stripper such as SELLEYS KWIK STRIP SMART Ensure the surface is dry before applying.
- We also recommend sanding the surface back with a good quality sanding block, such as a ROTA COTA Sanding Block Medium/ Course grain, as the construction adhesive will adhere more readily to a scratched up surface.
- Cut the seal at the top of the cartridge. Remove cap from nozzle and cut the nozzle end to desired opening (approx. 3mm diameter). Fit to the top of the cartridge.
- Insert the cartridge into a caulking gun such as SELLEYS LIGHT SPEED Caulking gun. We recommend SELLEYS LIGHT SPEED Caulking Gun, as its new innovative pressure release design reduces the mess which results from run on and stress on your hands, which is critical if you are doing a lot of work which requires a caulking gun.
- For decking and flooring to joists, apply a bead or small blobs of adhesive centrally on the joists or bearer (avoid excess due to expansion during curing). Place boards onto the adhesive within 10 minutes and fix with nails or screws as required.
- Remove excess adhesive immediately with a dry cloth.
- Once cured, trim and excess squeezed out of join by cutting or sanding.
- For broad flat surfaces, apply beads of adhesive (approx. 3mm diameter) at approximately 30mm intervals rather than large blobs. Clamp, weight or fasten as expanding adhesive will lift the materials apart.
- Maximum strength achieved in 24 hours depending on humidity or porosity of substrate.
- Clean up tools & wet adhesive immediately with acetone or mineral turps. Remove dried adhesive with a chiesel, scraping or sanding. We recommend using a 50mm ROTA COTA Soft Grip Scraper.
- Adhesive requires moisture to cure.
- Bonds between two non-porous surfaces will take longer to cure (up to 7 days).
- Adhesive exposed to sunlight will turn amber.

Handy tips
Tips for Using a Liquid Nails Floors and Decks
- Adhesive will swell and foam on curing. Joints should be held firmly while curing to prevent surfaces being pushed apart. Any excess should be trimmed off after cure.
- On very dry surfaces such as terracotta, or under extremely dry conditions wiping the surfaces with a damp rag prior to application will help in curing the product. Surfaces should not be overly wet however.
- Working time is 10 minutes. Ensure surfaces are brought together before this time.
- LIQUID NAILS LIQUID NAILS FLOORS AND DECKS cannot be used as a contact adhesive.
- LIQUID NAILS FLOORS AND DECKS cannot be removed once cured, except by sanding, scraping or cutting. Clean up any excess material immediately using acetone or mineral turpetine.
- LIQUID NAILS FLOORS AND DECKS cannot be removed from the skin once cured. Use gloves and also keep some SELLEYS Hand Kleen Wipes pre-moistened wipes handy to clean up any skin contact during application. This will avoid the need for solvent use on the skin.
- If cured material is discovered on the skin, then rub vegetable oil or Vitamin E cream into the area repeatedly to accelerate the natural process of the skin shedding, which will in turn cause the cured product to fall off.
- Keep a pack of SELLEYS Hand Kleen Wipes handy to wipe up any spills and for cleaning any material off the skin before it cures. They are an easy and effective way to keep clean on the job.
