Where can this product be used?

  • Ideal where high strength, shock resistance and some flexibility is required from an adhesive joint. e.g. rubber
  • Repairing garden tool handles
  • Mending and repairing plastic goods
  • Joining, repairing holes in tents, car covers etc
  • Bonding new soles on shoes & repairing shoes
  • Repairing splits or cracks in tennis racquet

How to use this product

  • Surfaces to be bonded must be clean and dry.
  • Apply a thin glue-line to one surface, use a spreader to ensure even coverage.
  • Careful application is advised as product is difficult to remove from skin and surfaces. We recommend wearing gloves.
  • Press parts together.
  • Clamps or supports are recommended for best results and optimum adhesion, particularly when bonding materials with a high moisture content.
  • After drying, any excess adhesive can be removed by scraping, sanding or filing.

Handy tips

  • Urethane Bond cures by reacting with moisture in the air. Consequently, clean the nozzle and screw the cap tightly after use to prevent remaining product from hardening.
  • It is advisable to wear gloves to eliminate problems with skin contact.
  • For best results when bonding rubber, roughen surfaces and thoroughly clean with methylated spirits before application.
  • If materials to be bonded have high water content e.g. moist wood, then they should be dried as excessive foaming may occur.
  • The adhesive will set in approximately 2-4 hours, however this will depend on such factors as humidity, porosity and moisture content of the materials and temperature.
  • Uncured Product: Urethane Bond is extremely difficult to remove from skin and surfaces if left to cure. To remove, wipe off excess with dry rag then use mineral turps or rubbing alcohol.
  • For cleaning surfaces prior to application of adhesive, if the surface is porous, we would recommend using SELLEYS Liquid Sugar Soap. If the surface is non-porous eg glass or metal, firstly clean the surface with mineral turpentine and then again with methylated spirits. If there is old, difficult to remove residue such as old paint, we recommend using paint stripper such as SELLEYS Kwik Strip Smart. Ensure the surface is dry before applying the product.
  • Keep a canister of SELLEYS Sugar Soap Wipes nearby for a quick and effective cleanup.

Safety tips

  • Caution: Uncured product irritates eyes.
  • Avoid contact with the skin and eyes and avoid breathing the vapour. Potential allergen.
  • If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 13 11 26 or New Zealand 0800 764 766.
  • If skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly with soap and water. If in eyes, hold eyes open, flood with water for at least 15 minutes and see a doctor.
  • For further information refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
