I would like to make a right-angle bookend (L shape) out of two pieces of 3mm Acrylic sheet. Which glue will give the strongest bond?

You should achieve good results for this using Selleys Fix & Go Multi Grip. Fix & Go Multi Grip is a clear solvent based general purpose glue and bonds very well to Acrylics & Perspex, PVC etc.
